5 Questions I'd like to ask the Democratic Candidates.

Everyone knows by now who I support, but let's set that aside for the moment. I'm not writing this diary to try and convince anyone to support someone.

February 5th is approaching fast - that's when my state (California) holds its primaries. And while we pretty much know where all the candidates stand on many issues, and several debates have highlighted their views, there are some questions that are still bugging me, and frankly I think they need to be asked, and answered.

  1. I believe it was a huge, huge mistake for President Clinton not to prosecute the members of the Reagan and Bush 41 administrations for their roles in the Iran-Contra affair, and that failure, in no small degree, led to the disastrous Bush 43 presidency. This time, will you, as President, hold this current Bush Administration responsible for their wanton destruction of democratic principles, their rape of the Constitution, and unprecedented lawbreaking? Will you prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law?
  1. Will you, as President, immediately rescind all no-bid government contracts issued to private agencies such as Blackwater USA, Halliburton, KBR, and many other companies with political connections to the Bush Administration and their supporters? And will you order an immediate moratorium on ANY no-bid private contracts?
  1. It has come to light that there has been rampant misappropriation of government monies and goods by aforementioned private contractors, and others. From millions of dollars earmarked for New Orleans after Katrina, to 190,000 guns in Iraq, taxpayer property has mysteriously disappeared. Will you order an immediate accounting of all the expenses incurred by these private contractors and BILL them in full for any improprieties?
  1. It has recently come to light that partisan political operatives,  including Karl Rove, using what appear to be illegal and improper tactics, were involved in the prosecution and imprisonment of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman, essentially making him a political prisoner in these, the United States of America. Will you, as President, order Siegelman's immediate exoneration and release? And will you order those responsible to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law?
  1. The Bush Administration has made a practice of appointing unqualified partisan political operatives into government positions, and several of them, such as Lurita Doan, have been found to have willfully misused their offices to serve the Republican Party instead of the American taxpayers. Will you, as President, order the immediate removal of all the incompetent partisan appointees that the Bush Administration has placed in sensitive government positions, and prosecute those who are found to have committed criminal activity?

And yes, please add any questions you feel deserve to be asked at the next debate.
